The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Hon. Yahaya Garba has disclosed that the council will next week distribute agro-chemicals, insecticides, herbicides and sprayers worth N9 million to farmers across the council.
He stated this while speaking with journalists, when he expressed the council’s desire to assist farmers in the area to ensure bumper harvest in this farming season.
The chairman said the council had also concluded plans to auction all broken down tractors in the council in order to procure new ones and give them out on hire to enable farmers cultivate their farm lands.
Garba who lamented that the past one year of his administration had been characterised by financial crises however said the council had made modest achievements especially in the area of projects with direct impact on the lives of residents of the council, especially in the rural communities.
He listed provision of transformers, extension of electricity, procurement of drugs to clinics in rural communities, procurement of school instructional materials and disbursement of scholarship as some of the achievements of the council in the last one year.
He urged residents of the council, especially village and district heads to always be security conscious and take note of the kind people that come into their communities just as he urged youths to be law abiding.
