This June, the city of Lagos will be given an unforgettable experience as Taruwa Festival of Performing Arts in Nigeria [TAF] returns with a second edition themed ‘Telling Our Stories’. The festival which debuted a year ago is back with an assortment of events spread out through 4 days from Wednesday, June 4 to Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the prestigious arts and culture hub, Terra Kulture.
The debut edition of the festival, which held in June 2013, garnered rave reviews from a stage adaptation of Bobo Omotayo’s bestselling book London Life Lagos Living, a children’s show, screening of short films, Open Mic Theatre, a mega concert, and the final closing ‘Ankara Ball’; a grand evening of amazing performances and fine dining
The second edition of the festival will be a 4day cocktail of rich events telling the Nigerian and African story through Music, Spoken word, literature, dance, fashion, a workshop and the stage production of the play ‘The Engagement’ by award-winning Author, Sefi Atta.
Taruwa Festival of Performing Arts is a carefully planned collection of events, and the team is working to ensure everyone that attends has a memorable experience, a goal Taruwa has strived to achieve over the years.


Day 1: [Theatre – The Engagement]
Description: A family is at odds on the day of their daughter’s engagement ceremony. Watch as the plot thickens and the twists take dramatic new turns! The Taruwa Festival of Performing Arts kicks off with this witty and dramatic stage play written by prize-winning Nigerian author and playwright, Seffi Atta. Directed by the talented Kenneth Uphopho of ‘Harvest of Soyinka’ plays ‘Trials of Brother Jero’ and ‘Death and the King’s Horseman’

Day 2: [Dance] Ijodee International Dance Exchange
Description: Experience the side to Dance you never really knew existed as Taruwa Festival presents Ijodee International Dance Exchange [Dayo Liadi ‘Olorioko’ Dancer], a dance production featuring amazing dance performances from various dance companies.

Day 3: [The Taruwa Night at The Taruwa Festival]
