In
a statement given to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos the
management said that the directive affected the full-time, part-time and
postgraduate students.
it said that resumption of academic activities would be announced in due course.
“In view of this directives, all students of the university are expected to vacate the premises, female hostels inclusive until further notice,” it said.
Meanwhile, The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Kayode Sutton, has told NAN that the management took the decision to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
Sutton said that the students stay in the school premises was not necessary since academic activities were not in progress.
“Since the lecturers are on strike, there is no point keeping the student in the school,” he said.
NAN reports that activities at LASU have been paralysed following the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, LASU chapter.
NAN also reports that while ASUU-LASU began their strike on May 20, SSANU-LASU commenced its strike on May 23. (NAN)
