John Okafor, popularly known as “Mr Ibu’’ on Friday advised female thespians in Nollywood to desist from offering their body for role in a movie.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that such an act was immoral and detestable.
NAN reports that the allegations of “body for a role’’ had been rife in Nollywood even though no single case had been blown open.
Mr Ibu stressed that those that want to make their mark in Nollywood should do so through hard work and not the number of producers or directors they had slept with.
“Do not go and give your body because of roles.
“Do not go and give money because you want to get a role in a production.
“This is not how the industry grows. If you pay, they will give you something you’re going to do, you’re not going to be anybody.
“The industry is a spirit, they will reject you immediately you begin to pay yourself in,’’ he said.
