A survivor of the Sunday bomb attack on Kabang area of Mubi South Local Government of Adamawa State has ascribed his mysterious survival from the bomb attack to fervent prayers.
Mr. James Zaki said that two days before the attack he had an intuition of the fate and went on his knees.
“Two days before the bomb attack, I had a dream that a serious fire was about to engulf me and my house. I woke up from that dream with serious trepidation and immediately knew that something serious and dastardly was about to happen to me.
“Since then, I could not sleep at night as I engaged in night prayers for God’s intervention,” he sai, adding that when he heard the laud bang, he never lost consciousness as others did, but lay down as advised by security operatives.
Zaki added that immediately after the bomb detonated, there were wailings of anguish from those that were injured.
“After the commotion, I stood up covered with my own blood, but I realized that I was lucky to be injured as those who were not that lucky were shattered into pieces,” he said.
Mubi Bomb Attack Barbaric – Gov Nyako, Adamawa Speaker
Adamawa State governor Murtala Nyako and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, have described the Sunday bomb attack on Mubi as barbaric, repugnant and unacceptable.
The governor, who made the remark through his Director of Press and Public Affairs Mallam Ahmed Sajoh, said the government was sad that the attack on Mubi occurred when the area had started enjoying relative peace for over one year, even as he called on the residents to exercise restraint.
Nyako called on the people to assist the security agencies with information that will lead to the arrest of insurgents and other criminals to avert future occurrences.
Meanwhile, a survivor of the blast who claimed to have lost two relatives to the blast said about 45 people were killed, scores of others injured and a number of shops destroyed.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Othman Abubakar, noted that the number of fatalities had increased as two more people had died, taking the number of deaths to 16 while four people receiving treatment at the Mubi general hospital have been discharged.
He said so far no arrest in connection to the blast had made.
Meanwhile, a source at the Mubi General Hospital said told LEADERSHIP that the mortuary was overcrowded, just like other facilities, forcing relatives of some of the patients to them to other health facilities.
Meanwhile, gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram yesterday launched another attack on a Primary school at Bali in Demsa local government area of the state.
The gunmen were reported to have burnt down the school, sparking anxiety in the neighborhood as people scampered for safety. No life was, however, lost according to the residents.

Troops Nab Mubi Bomb Suspect
The Defence Headquarters yesterday disclosed that the bomber responsible for the Mubi explosion had been nabbed.
This disclosure was made in a statement issued and signed by the Director of Information, Major General Chris Olukolade in Abuja.
He said: “A key suspect in the terror bomb explosion that rocked the Kabang community in Mubi, Adamawa State on Sunday evening has been arrested by troops who cordoned the area in a swift response to the explosion.
“The suspect was nabbed as observant members of the public confirmed sighting him alight from the vehicle used in conveying the explosive device that was detonated in Kabang shortly before the explosion.
“So far, 19 persons wounded in the explosion have been evacuated and are receiving medical attention in hospitals while 18 others have been confirmed dead,” he stated.
In a related development, patrol troops have reportedly successfully repelled an ambush in Buratai community in Biu, a town in Borno State.
According to the Defence Headquarters, “The troops who fell into the ambush laid by the terrorists while on patrol engaged the terrorists in a decisive fire fight killing four of them and capturing one alive.
“Also in Kawuri in Borno State, troops in a patrol killed five terrorists in a shootout.”
The troops also captured two AK 47 rifles and two vehicles used by the terrorists”.
