The dissolving of the state executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State is a step in the right direction that will position the party to unseat the ruling APC in 2015, former Minister of Police Affairs Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, has said.
Waziri stated this while speaking to newsmen yesterday at his residence in Abuja.
According to him, the immediate past chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur erred greatly while in charge, and supported such illegality that destabilized the party in the state and almost consumed the party nationwide.
“There was no congress as stipulated by the party’s constitution to elect leadership at the ward, LGA and state level when congresses were held nationwide in 2012. There was serious insecurity at that time In Yobe and Borno States. Then the PDP conducted congresses in other states but postponed in both states.
“INEC wrote to the PDP leadership from Kawu Baraje to Bamanga Tukur, reminding them that nine states in the country had flawed leadership. The party under Tukur in its selective justice decided to reconduct national convention but refused to heed INEC’s report,” he said.
The former minister was optimistic that with internal democracy set to be established in Yobe, power will be wrestled out of the hands of APC in 2015.
“In doing so, the party must take hold of Yobe by producing an all acceptable exco that will stir the party in the 2015 elections, by restoring internal democracy and complying with the game changer Adamu Mu’azu’s all inclusive philosophy,” he added.
